Te Paea Hall's 21st Birthday
This year is Te Paea Hall’s 21st birthday. That’s right: New Zealand’s finest women have been coming to Wesley since that wayward first intake in 1985. To honour the occasion, someone suggested presenting Te Paea with a nice, large formica key. But someone else suggested a celebratory brunch, with some scrumptious Wesley kai, at the College. So we’re doing just that. Saturday, September 16. 10.00am in the Rec Lounge. Keen to come? Leave your name and details here or, if you prefer, email commander@clear.net.nz.

I think that this is a awesome idea. Although we really need some support from ex-girls.
Last year it was awesome, even though there was such a small representation.
Girls/Ladies please support this - we will all benefit from it!
There has been some talk of getting one of those nice mirrored jobs instead. You know the sort of thing that your grandmother has been keeping to one side for the last, um, 21 years.
Classy!
Hmmm, that's a very good point. Perhaps we could get some a bulk supply from the markets or somewhere and give one to each old girl as a souvenir of her time at WTC.
That's a present that would go straight down to "Pool Room" don't you think?
...I hate being so far away!!...if I had a grand, I'd jump on a plane right now and come...but I don't....so I guess there goes that!!...lol..
But I do hope all the girls have heaps if fun....Chelle, take pics, k?...
VESLA...FIJI!
An Old Students' Weekend update will be posted on Sunday, Aug 28.
However, the old girls' reunion dinner will no longer be at Palazzo Roma in Drury (as Palazzo has half burnt down!) Instead the dinner will be at the wonderfully-named Two Fat Cows in Drury on Friday, Sept 15.
But more details will be posted on Sunday.
Come on Drama. You know I wasn't responsible for the name.
Fact is quality eating establishments like TFC are hard to come by in Drury.
You're right, the Monarch is a more appropriately-monikered institution for Wesley's finest. However, the final decision was made on cost: the Monarch is around $50 for the set menu, whereas the Pair of "Prosperous" Bovines is a mere $30.
OK...so I've only now just realised TePaea Hall is a building, not a person.Mind you,I left Wesley when Caughey Hall was one year old.Bit outa touch you could say.
Hear ye fellow Old Girls I hope the lack of hits on this post doesn't indicate a poor interest in the Old Students' Weekend! "But its always the same faces..." I hear you lament, well why not show up and set a new precedent? Life after Wesley can take us down such different roads so why not pass through those familiar gates and travel that same ol' driveway to revive old and new friendships; to laugh and cringe at the bad; and most importantly to celebrate the good. After all, our experiences are what make us, so be proud to return as the person you are today - without forgetting this place is a forever part of your history.
And if nostalgia ain't your thing...what better way to have a perve and find out what everyone is up to (y'know you're curious).
With the girls number sliding is the 21st birthday an ideal time to lay the experiement to rest.
Hey guys, why not invite some of us boys who used to stay in Te Paea until chased out or a jealous hand hit the alarm.
Or the 86 1st XV (Chris's team)that spend an entire school break in Te Paea for training as the other dorm was under maintenance.
